My next stop was Athens, Greece. I played for a team in the Athens area but I lived closer to the Mediterranean Sea.  My team was in Illiopoli and we where called Academia.  Athens is the biggest city in Greece and the cradle of westernized civilization.  I can remember the first time I saw Acropolis on the hills of Athens.  It was truly amazing.  The Parthenon looked so real but so unreal at the same time.  I could not believe how it lasted all these years through the wear and tear of time.
Millions of people live in Athens and millions more come to visit this old city with its mythological gods and goddesses.  I remember going down to Plaka (this is the old part of town); Plaka is also the shopping district known to attract tourists.
If you are in Greece, you definitely need to check out some of the Greek islands.  Santorini, Mykonos, Hydra and Poros to name a few are must see.  I really enjoyed the weather and the view of the Mediterranean Sea from my apartment.
