From the French Rivera, I headed to the Swiss Alps.  I lived in a town called Troistorrent, which is on the border of France and Switzerland.  Troistorrent in French means, three rivers and there are three rivers that run through the town.  Troistorrent is a town of 500 people, and one of the biggest ski resorts is five minutes away.  Needless to say, there was a lot of snow.  I lived in a chalet, which was a marvelous house made of wood.  It had breath-taking views of the Alps. The entire town of Troistorrent has many chalets and a small central district of five restaurants and a church.  The nearest town, Monthey, was ten minutes down the mountain.  At the bottom of the mountain, was Lake Geneva.  The scenery of snow-capped mountains surrounding the lake was beautiful.  I was only thirty minutes away from Lausanne and one hour away from Geneva.  I enjoyed the drive to these cities because it bordered Lake Geneva.  It was a wonderful experience living in the snow.  I am glad I had the opportunity to ski and experience winter in Switzerland.
